MZIA Boucherouite Rug | 155 x 70 cm
Boucherouite Rug “MZIA” | Approx. 155 × 70 cm | Upcycled Textiles
A joyful, compact boucherouite bursting with texture — MZIA (“pretty” in Darija) is a lively patchwork of soft blues, warm pastels, deep burgundy, charcoal, lilac and tiny sparks of mustard. Its cosy, looped texture and artisanal irregularities make it the perfect uplifting piece for tighter spaces: bathrooms, hallways, beside the bed… or anywhere that needs a dose of Moroccan charm.
This handmade rug is woven from recycled clothing and household textiles, giving discarded fabrics a beautiful second life. The back reveals a striped, hand-woven base with intricate braiding, showing the craftsmanship and character behind every knot.

STORY
I sourced MZIA during one of my criée rounds in Marrakech. Among dozens of rugs laid out on the ground, this piece stood out immediately — small but full of soul, beautifully made, and with the kind of colour play only a creative Berber woman can dream up. A true example of how humble materials become little works of art.
