Vintage Boujad Kilim (One-of-A-Kind)

A feast of colour, symbolism and tradition — Boujad Tazrita is a true vintage gem from the Boujad region, woven entirely by hand and adorned with rows of Amazigh tribal motifs. Every band tells its own story: protective symbols, fertility marks, zigzag paths, ancestral patterns and playful colourwork appear like a woven diary of the woman who created it.

The base is a soft, sun-warmed rose red — a colour Boujad is famous for — enriched with bursts of saffron yellow, emerald green, bright orange, charcoal black and sky blue. Some motifs are woven flat; others rise slightly from the surface, creating a tactile rhythm unique to older Boujad kilims.

This piece carries small signs of life and time — including a tiny repair made in Marrakech by our trusted maâlem (visible in photos). Rather than diminish the rug, it adds depth, authenticity and soul. A detail that reinforces the beauty of an object made to last.

Photographed on our riad rooftop at sunset, this kilim is more than décor — it’s a statement piece, a collector’s textile, a colourful slice of Moroccan heritage.

Origin

Handwoven by Amazigh women from the Boujad region in the Middle Atlas.
Each symbol reflects their culture: protection, femininity, daily life, fertility, blessings, and pathways. No two weavings from this region are ever the same.

Carefully selected during our latest buying trip at the criée berbère — the daily artisan rug auction inside the Marrakech medina.
Chosen for its character, complex motifs, and vibrant spirit.
