Small stripes, plenty of personality.

Meet NIZAR, a charming little vintage kilim we picked up during our October sourcing trip in Marrakech.

Fine, colourful stripes run across the entire piece, mixing cobalt blue, burgundy red, soft turquoise, mustard, earthy brown, cream and warm peach tones. A lovely little mix that somehow all works together.

What we particularly like about NIZAR is how versatile it is. It's a lightweight, flatwoven textile, so you don't necessarily have to use it as a rug.

Place it beside your bed, in a small hallway or in front of a cabinet. Or forget the floor altogether and use it as a table covering, drape it over a bench or give it a spot on the wall.

Because NIZAR is quite light, we do recommend using a non-slip rug underlay if you want to place it on the floor. It will help keep everything safely in place.

NIZAR is a vintage find, with the little irregularities and subtle signs of age that come with a textile that's already had a life before arriving at SOUK. No perfectly straight factory-made stripes here, and that's exactly what we like about it.

STYLING & CARE

NIZAR can be used as a small runner, decorative table textile, bench covering or wall hanging.

For floor use, we strongly recommend a non-slip underlay, as this is a light and flexible flatweave rather than a heavy rug.

Vacuum gently when needed, avoid prolonged direct sunlight and have it professionally cleaned when necessary.
