A little piece of Morocco, designed the SOUK way.

KALIMA — meaning word — is a SOUK in the CITY design, created together with a women’s sewing cooperative in Marrakech.

For the outside, we chose a sturdy cotton canvas — the same base fabric used for the backs of our KERIA cushion collection — and kept the design deliberately simple. The colour comes through the details: embroidered lettering, a matching tassel and three shades taken from the SOUK colour palette.

Choose your size, your colour and one of three favourite Darija expressions: Salam, Yallah or Zwin Bzaf.

And then comes the part you don’t choose: the inside.

Every KALIMA pouch is lined with leftover textiles from the cooperative’s clothing production. Florals, colours and prints change depending on the fabrics available, giving textile remnants a new purpose — and making the inside of every pouch a little surprise.

KALIMA was developed by SOUK in the CITY together with a women’s sewing cooperative in Marrakech. The cooperative supports women through sewing skills, employment and local production, while making creative use of textile remnants that would otherwise go unused.
