SOUK in the CITY
Boujad Rug – BOUCHRA | ca. 150 × 100 cm
Handwoven from sheep's wool, incorporating repurposed, previously dyed yarns. This gives the rug its wonderfully rich colour palette, subtle variations and unique character.
A little abstract, a little playful. Meet BOUCHRA!
A beautiful handwoven Boujad rug with a wonderfully creamy wool base and an unexpected mix of warm colours and geometric shapes.
Rusty red, terracotta, cinnamon brown, soft pink, ochre and touches of grey, with little cobalt blue dots scattered across the design.
Some shapes look almost architectural, others like little abstract drawings. Nothing perfectly symmetrical, and that's exactly what makes her interesting.
And that gorgeous, thick sheep's wool pile? So soft, beautifully textured and full of character.

A LITTLE ABOUT BOUJAD RUGS
Boujad rugs originate from central Morocco, a region known for its expressive Amazigh weaving traditions.
Traditionally woven by women, these rugs are loved for their freedom in colour, irregular patterns and wonderfully spontaneous compositions.
Many newly made Boujads incorporate reused wool, giving existing coloured yarns a new life rather than starting entirely from freshly dyed wool.
BOUCHRA is a lovely example of that creative freedom. Warm earthy tones, unexpected blue details and a design that feels almost like a modern abstract painting.
FOUND AT THE MARRAKECH CRIÉE
BOUCHRA was personally selected during our October 2026 sourcing trip at the Marrakech rug auction, better known as the criée.
Piles of carpets everywhere, rugs being unfolded one after another, people calling out prices and negotiating.
And somewhere in the middle of it all, us, trying to keep track of our favourites.
Not always easy!
Among all those colourful Boujads, BOUCHRA caught our eye with her wonderfully unusual pattern and thick, creamy wool.
Another lovely find for the SOUK collection.
A LITTLE STOPOVER AT DAR TCHAIKANA
Before travelling to Belgium, BOUCHRA had her photoshoot at Riad Dar Tchaikana, one of our favourite Marrakech addresses.
First draped over those beautiful old wooden doors, then laid out across the courtyard, surrounded by greenery.
The natural daylight brought out all those lovely little colour variations and the beautiful texture of the wool.
And once again, merci to the ladies of Dar Tchaikana for letting us turn their peaceful riad into our improvised rug photo studio!
SMALL RUG, BIG PERSONALITY
At approximately 100 × 150 cm, BOUCHRA is perfect beside a bed, in a cosy reading corner, next to a vintage armchair or as a colourful accent in a child's room.
And with her almost painterly composition, we can imagine her as a tapis tableau too — a little piece of textile art on the wall.
THE BEAUTY OF HANDMADE
BOUCHRA is individually handwoven from natural sheep's wool.
Slightly uneven edges, differences in pile height and irregularities in the design are part of her handmade character.
Please allow for small variations in measurements. Colours may appear slightly different depending on your screen and lighting.
One of a kind. A little unexpected, wonderfully woolly and full of personality.
