SOUK in the CITY
Boujad Rug – BINTI | ca. 150 × 100 cm
Handwoven from sheep's wool, incorporating repurposed, previously dyed yarns. This gives the rug its wonderfully rich colour palette, subtle variations and unique character.
Little symbols, lovely colours and plenty of woolly charm. Meet BINTI!
A wonderfully soft Moroccan Boujad rug with a thick, creamy wool base and little colourful symbols scattered across the surface.
Cobalt blue, mustard yellow, dusty pink, burgundy, turquoise, soft green and touches of orange. Some shapes look like tiny figures, others like letters, diamonds or little drawings.
There's no obvious repetition, no perfectly balanced design. Just a playful collection of shapes, each doing its own thing.
And that gorgeous, chunky sheep's wool pile makes her even more irresistible.
Soft, a little quirky and full of character. That's BINTI!

A LITTLE ABOUT BOUJAD RUGS
Boujad rugs originate from central Morocco, a region known for its expressive Amazigh weaving traditions.
Traditionally woven by women, they're loved for their freedom in colour, irregular patterns and wonderfully spontaneous compositions.
Many newly made Boujads incorporate reused wool, giving previously coloured yarns a new life and creating beautiful variations in colour and texture.
BINTI is a lovely example of this creative freedom. Instead of one large geometric pattern, her little motifs are scattered across the cream wool almost like drawings on a blank canvas.
Some resemble traditional Amazigh symbols, often associated with everyday life, protection or femininity, although their exact meanings aren't always known.
And we rather like leaving a little room for imagination.
FOUND AT THE MARRAKECH CRIÉE
BINTI was personally selected during our October 2026 sourcing trip at the Marrakech rug auction, better known as the criée.
Piles of carpets everywhere, rugs being unfolded one after another, prices being called out and people negotiating in every direction.
And somewhere in the middle of it all, us, trying to keep track of the pieces we love.
Among all those bold colours and striking patterns, BINTI caught our attention with her creamy wool and wonderfully unusual little symbols.
A softer look, but definitely not a boring one.
Another little treasure coming home with us!
A LITTLE STOPOVER AT DAR TCHAIKANA
Before travelling to Belgium, BINTI had her photoshoot at Riad Dar Tchaikana, one of our favourite Marrakech addresses.
Laid out across the courtyard floor, surrounded by greenery, old terracotta tiles and those beautiful wooden doors.
The natural daylight was perfect for showing her soft wool texture and all those colourful little details.
And once again, a big merci to the lovely ladies of Dar Tchaikana for letting us turn their peaceful riad into our improvised rug photo studio!
SMALL RUG, PLENTY OF POSSIBILITIES
At approximately 100 × 150 cm, BINTI is a lovely size beside a bed, in a cosy reading corner, next to a vintage armchair or in a colourful child's room.
Her creamy base makes her surprisingly easy to combine, while those little coloured motifs add just enough playfulness.
And with that almost painterly design, we can definitely imagine her as a tapis tableau too.
A little piece of textile art for the wall.
THE BEAUTY OF HANDMADE
BINTI is individually handmade from sheep's wool.
Slightly uneven edges, variations in pile height and little irregularities in the pattern are all part of her handmade charm.
Please allow for small variations in measurements. Colours may appear slightly different depending on your screen and lighting.
One of a kind. Soft, playful and full of lovely little surprises.
