Meet NEON — a vintage Boucherouite that definitely wasn’t made to blend in.

I found this wonderfully bold piece at the criée berbère in Marrakech. With its mix of lavender, turquoise, cobalt blue, hot pink, lime green, orange and black, NEON was pretty hard to miss.

What makes it especially striking is its wonderfully free composition. A large dark diamond dominates the upper half, while the lower section suddenly shifts into fresh lime green with an oversized pink and blue motif. Colourful blocks run along both sides, almost like a frame around the whole piece.

Handmade from repurposed textiles, its irregular weave, uneven edges and changes in colour and texture are exactly what give NEON its character. Bold, graphic and gloriously imperfect — this one can completely change a room.

At 250 × 120 cm, it has an elongated format that works beautifully alongside a sofa or dining table, in a bedroom, dressing room or anywhere that could use a serious injection of colour.

ORIGIN & SOURCING

Personally sourced by Joëlle for SOUK in the CITY at the criée berbère in Marrakech. Selected one by one for its extraordinary colour combination, graphic composition and individual character.

CARE

Regularly shake out or gently vacuum using low suction and without a rotating brush.

Because of NEON’s size and weight when wet, we don’t recommend washing this piece in a domestic washing machine. For a deeper clean, professional rug cleaning is the safest option.
