Vintage Boucherouite Rug — SQUARES | 170 × 95 cm
One of a kind means exactly that: there is only one SQUARES.
Its irregular composition, mixed textile textures and colour placement are unique to this piece. Uneven edges, loose fibres and small traces of its previous life are part of its vintage handmade character, not flaws.
Meet SQUARES — a wonderfully textured vintage Boucherouite built from little bursts of colour.
I found this one at the criée berbère in Marrakech in June 23. From a distance, SQUARES has an almost pixelated composition, with small irregular blocks of pink, red, blue, green, cream, grey and brown scattered across a darker background.
Come closer and it gets even more interesting. Each little section reveals a different repurposed textile — from soft jersey-like strips to patterned and frayed fabrics — giving the rug an incredibly rich, tactile surface.
Nothing is perfectly aligned or repeated, and that is precisely its charm. SQUARES feels spontaneous, slightly quirky and completely one of a kind.
At 170 × 95 cm, it’s an easy size to add colour and texture beside a bed, in a reading corner, dressing room or smaller living space.
