A colourful tradition, brought back to life.

The KASBAH baskets are quite different from the traditional Moroccan baskets you may already know. Their generous proportions, tall conical lids and intricate geometric patterns make them instantly recognisable.

Each basket is woven by hand, using coiled palm leaves wrapped in brightly coloured yarns. The result is a sturdy, beautifully detailed piece that works just as well as a decorative statement as it does for storage.

The story behind KASBAH

During a road trip through southern Morocco in 2023, we came across a small village where this particular style of basket weaving had almost disappeared.

Conversations with the local community led to something quite unexpected: with the help of our local partner, Saïd, women from the area began making these baskets again.

What started with a few remaining pieces has since grown into an ongoing collaboration, allowing us to bring this distinctive craft to SOUK in the CITY.

The collection takes its name from the village's impressive old kasbah, whose future restoration has long been an ambition of the local community.

Every KASBAH basket is individually handmade, with its own combination of colours and patterns. No two pieces are exactly alike.
