SOUK in the CITY
Boujad Rug — PIXEL | 145 × 97 cm
One of a kind means exactly that: there is only one PIXEL.
Its abstract pattern, colour placement and hand-knotted details are unique to this piece. Small variations in shape, weave and pile are part of its handmade character, not flaws.
Meet PIXEL — a little explosion of colour, one knot at a time.
I found this one at the criée berbère in Marrakech and fell for its texture before anything else.
From a distance, PIXEL reveals a loose composition of diamonds and crossing lines. Come closer and everything seems to dissolve into hundreds of tiny touches of colour — dusty pink, plum, faded blue, soft green, rust, cream and black, all mixed together in its wonderfully tactile wool pile.
There’s something almost pixelated about it. No large blocks of perfect colour, no strict repetition — just layer upon layer of tiny variations that make the rug look different every time you move around it.
At 145 × 97 cm, PIXEL is an easy little statement piece for beside a bed, in an entrance hall or in front of a cabinet. And with all that texture and abstract pattern, we’d happily put this one on a wall too.
Small rug. Thousands of little details.

ORIGIN & SOURCING
Personally sourced by Joëlle for SOUK in the CITY at the criée berbère in Marrakech.
PIXEL was selected one by one for its wonderfully tactile pile, layered colour palette and unusual abstract composition.
RUG OR ART?
With its smaller size, rich texture and abstract composition, PIXEL is what we like to call a tapis-tableau — a rug that works just as beautifully on the wall as it does on the floor.
Hang it as a one-of-a-kind piece of textile art, or use it as a small statement rug. We love it both ways.
CARE
Regularly shake out or gently vacuum using low suction and without a rotating brush.
Rotate occasionally for even wear and air outside from time to time to keep the wool fresh.
For deeper cleaning, professional rug cleaning is recommended. Avoid machine washing or soaking.
