Meet JOHARA — a little jewel of a Boujad.

I found this one during a sourcing trip in Morocco and immediately loved its wonderfully graphic composition.

Pink, ecru, black, orange and green come together in a bold mix of abstract shapes and irregular lines. Nothing is perfectly balanced or repeated — one side feels completely different from the other, giving the whole piece an almost painterly quality.

Hand-knotted in wool, SRIRA 4 has plenty of texture and all those little shifts in shape and colour that make a handmade Boujad so much more interesting up close.

At 155 × 100 cm, it’s an easy size to use on the floor — beside a bed, in an entrance hall or in front of a cabinet — but this is also exactly the kind of piece we love hanging on the wall.

Rug or art? We’ll happily call it both.

RUG OR ART?

With its smaller size and wonderfully graphic composition, SRIRA 4 is what we like to call a tapis-tableau — a rug that works just as beautifully on the wall as it does on the floor.

Hang it as a one-of-a-kind piece of textile art for an instant injection of colour and texture, or simply use it as a rug. We love it both ways.

Personally sourced by Joëlle for SOUK in the CITY at the criée berbère in Marrakech.
JOHARA was selected one by one for its wonderfully graphic composition, bold colour contrasts and almost jewel-like pattern.

CARE

Regularly shake out or gently vacuum using low suction and without a rotating brush.
Rotate occasionally for even wear and air outside from time to time to keep the wool fresh.
For deeper cleaning, professional rug cleaning is recommended. Avoid machine washing or soaking.
