SOUK in the CITY
Boujad Rug — KUBI | 167 × 99 cm
One of a kind means exactly that: there is only one KUBI.
Its irregular composition, colour placement and hand-knotted details are unique to this piece. Small variations in shape, weave and pile are part of its handmade character, not flaws.
Meet KUBI — a small Boujad with a surprisingly modern edge.
I found this one at the criée berbère in Marrakech and immediately loved its unusual composition.
Rather than following one repeating pattern, KUBI is built up from blocks, lines and wonderfully irregular geometric shapes. Warm terracotta and burgundy sit next to forest green, olive, turquoise and cobalt blue, all softened by a creamy wool base.
