SABRA Boucherouite Rug – HAMKA | ca. 100 × 150 cm
Thanks to its expressive composition and unusual texture, HAMKA also works beautifully as a tapis tableau — a textile statement piece for the wall, not just the floor.
A little wild. A little crazy. And definitely one of a kind.
HAMKA is not your average Moroccan Boucherouite rug.
A rather unusual find, combining a wool base with colourful Sabra fibres and an incredibly rich, almost shaggy texture. Deep cobalt blue and turquoise take centre stage, surrounded by a wonderfully unpredictable mix of pink, burgundy, lavender, yellow and everything in between.
We first came across this particular style several years ago and loved it so much that we bought the entire collection.
Funny enough, when I spotted this one at the Marrakech rug auction, Ahmed still remembered that earlier purchase! Unfortunately, this time there was only one.
And yes, we brought it home.
With its smaller size and striking texture, HAMKA works beautifully as a statement rug in a little corner, beside a bed or anywhere that could use a generous dose of colour. Or as a tapis-tableau?
