Boucherouite Rug – MEHDI | ca 250 × 115 cm
An original vintage Moroccan rug, selected for its exceptional textile composition. Irregular edges, visible fabric strips, colour variations and signs of age are part of its handmade character.
MEHDI – A LITTLE BERBER GEOMETRY, A LOT OF CHARACTER.
Meet MEHDI, a beautiful vintage Boucherouite rug personally selected in Marrakech.
With its deep charcoal-black centre, four striking diamond shapes in shades of turquoise and teal, and colourful Berber-inspired motifs running along its creamy borders, MEHDI has a wonderfully graphic look.
The combination of dark tones, fresh blues, purple, red and touches of green gives this rug its very own personality. Bold, but surprisingly easy to combine with other colours and textures.
What makes MEHDI particularly interesting is the balance between its structured design and its irregular, handmade texture. Look closely and you'll discover little variations in the weaving, playful colour changes and details that make it impossible to reproduce exactly.
A vintage piece with plenty of character. Just the way we like them.
THE ART OF BOUCHEROUITE
Boucherouite rugs are part of Morocco's rich textile heritage. Traditionally created using recycled textiles, fabric remnants and other available fibres, these rugs are known for their freedom of colour, texture and design.
No strict patterns to follow, no perfectly identical lines. The weaver's creativity plays an important role, turning everyday materials into something wonderfully individual.
MEHDI combines this playful textile tradition with geometric motifs inspired by traditional Amazigh (Berber) weaving.
The diamond shapes and repeated symbols are part of a visual language found throughout Moroccan textile traditions. Their interpretations can vary between regions and weavers, making each composition even more fascinating.
