HAYK SOUIRI – Handwoven Cotton Textile
HANDWOVEN IN ESSAOUIRA
Each Hayk is woven and finished by hand. Small variations in the weave and tassels are part of its handmade character.
A piece of Essaouira, woven by hand.
The Hayk Souiri is one of those pieces that has been part of my own home for years. I first discovered these beautiful textiles more than a decade ago — and I still haven't grown tired of them.
Handwoven in Essaouira by Hanan, each Hayk is made from white cotton and finished with beautiful handmade fringes. At five metres long, it is an exceptionally generous piece of fabric: light enough to drape, but with all the texture and character of traditional Moroccan weaving.
Use it around a four-poster bed, hang two as curtains or a room divider, or simply let the fabric fall loosely for a softer, more relaxed look.
Simple. Handmade. And very Essaouira.

FROM THREAD TO HAYK
Hanan's Hayks are woven in Essaouira from fine white cotton threads on a traditional loom. Slowly, metre after metre, the threads become a light, softly textured textile. The finishing is done by hand, with an open knotted border and individual tassels along the edge.
