NOUR — a making of
Light, craftsmanship and considered choices
From late October until mid-November, I travelled to Morocco for my latest sourcing trip.
Marrakech was intense — busy, loud, full of movement. School holidays meant crowded streets and a pace that rarely slowed down. The trip felt chaotic at times, and next time I’ll choose a different period.
This time, my daughter Mila came along (partly) — so this was the moment it had to be.
And perhaps because of that intensity, the contrast I was working on felt even more meaningful.
Where NOUR truly begins
While NOUR is deeply rooted in Moroccan craftsmanship and storytelling,
the candles themselves are made in Belgium.
This is a very conscious choice.
To guarantee:
- the highest quality standards
- a carefully developed blend of waxes
- a clean, natural burn
- consistency and safety
Each candle is poured in small batches, with great attention to balance and performance.
Light, for me, is not only about atmosphere — it’s also about trust and quality.

NOUR means light.
And that light has to feel good in every sense of the word.
Marrakech: upcycling, textiles & hands at work
If Belgium is where the flame is perfected,
Marrakech is where NOUR gets dressed.
This sourcing trip focused entirely on the upcycled textile story behind the collection:
- the textile band that wraps each candle
- for both sizes
- and the matching pouch that turns it into a meaningful gift item
I worked closely with local artisans to select and rework vintage textiles — giving existing materials a new purpose rather than producing something new from scratch.

Each band is unique.
Each pouch carries its own history.
In the middle of the city’s chaos, these moments of creation felt grounding: hands cutting, stitching, assembling — repeating gestures that slow things down.

Imperfection as intention
Just like handwoven rugs or vintage fabrics,
these textiles are not meant to be uniform.
Small variations in colour, texture or pattern are not flaws — they are signatures.
They reflect:
- reuse over waste
- craftsmanship over speed
- character over perfection
This is where NOUR’s identity truly takes shape.

A gift with layers
With the textile band and the pouch, NOUR becomes more than a candle.
It becomes:
- an object of light
- wrapped in a story
- ready to be gifted, or kept close
Something made with care at every stage — from wax to flame, from textile to finishing touch.

From Belgium to Marrakech — and back to you
NOUR is a collection built on connection:
between countries, hands, materials and intentions.
The flame is crafted in Belgium.
The textile soul is shaped in Marrakech.
And together, they travel on —
into homes where light is valued not just for how it looks, but for what it represents.
NOUR — bringing light, with care.
