One rather lovely combination.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eNASSIJ started with two finds at the Marrakech criée.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eThe first was a light Moroccan Boucherouite-kilim textile, full of texture, with loose threads in faded blue, burgundy, grey and earthy shades running across an off-white background.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eThe second couldn't have been more different: a beautifully woven wine-red couverture, with fine stripes in muted pink, ochre and soft neutral tones.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eWe brought both textiles to our maâlems Boujma and Ayoub in Marrakech, with the idea of giving them a new purpose.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eAnd that's how NASSIJ came together.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch2\u003e\u003cspan\u003eTWO TEXTILES, DIFFERENT CHARACTERS\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/h2\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eWhat makes this collection interesting is the contrast.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eThe off-white textile has a wonderfully irregular, almost shaggy surface. Small loops, frayed threads and variations in the weaving give it plenty of depth.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eThe burgundy couverture, on the other hand, is flatter and more structured, with delicate stripes that bring a little warmth and colour into the mix.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eSome cushions combine both materials, allowing the two textures to play against each other. Others are made entirely from the lighter Boucherouite-kilim textile, giving them a more understated look.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eThey belong to the same collection, but each cushion has its own character.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch2\u003e\u003cspan\u003eFROM THE CRIÉE TO THE ATELIER\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/h2\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eBoth original textiles were selected at Marrakech's traditional carpet market during our October 2026 sourcing trip.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eThey were cleaned locally before being repurposed into cushions by Boujma and Ayoub, the maâlems we work with in Marrakech.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eThe original fabrics were carefully cut and sewn into a small series, making use of the different colours, woven details and textures.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eWe particularly love that the slightly unconventional nature of the original textiles remains visible in the finished pieces.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eThat's part of the appeal of working with vintage materials.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch2\u003e\u003cspan\u003eA LITTLE TEXTURE GOES A LONG WAY\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/h2\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eAt approximately 45 × 60 cm, NASSIJ works beautifully as a rectangular accent cushion on a sofa, armchair or bed.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eThe lighter versions are particularly easy to combine with natural linen, wood and other earthy textures.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eThe mixed versions introduce a richer contrast, with the deep burgundy textile adding colour and warmth.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eAnd because the cushions are made from existing fabrics, no two pieces need to look exactly alike.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch2\u003e\u003cspan\u003eUPCYCLED \u0026amp;
