hand-woven hanbel Zayan
- unique piece, there are no two similar in this world, originated from the creative mind of a berber lady
- made entirely from wool, embellished with sequins
- vintage piece
- flatwoven berber rug
- hanbels are rugs that stand out for their strength and lightness compared to high wool and knotted rugs. They are used as decoration or cover. There's a mix of techniques: geometric patterns in the direction of the length such as triangles with merlons (as required by the Berber pictorial tradition), zigzags, braces, chains, etc. make up the ornamental repertoire. But also knotted points with large listels of chevrons.
- beautiful blue, ochre, orange and warm burgundy pattern
- 4m65 x 1m68
Vintage Berber rugs were not made for production, but as functional pieces to be used for many years and passed down through generations. The colors and patterns are a combination of traditional Berber symbolism and the personal expressions of the woman who made it. No two are the same.
direct import
During my purchasing trips to Morocco, I always look for beautiful unique pieces that can fit nicely into our concept.
I bid along with the local merchants at the criée berbère of the carpet souks in the heart of Marrakech, which means that most of the intermediate channels are skipped!
maintenance advice
The kilim cannot be machine washed.
Cleaning is only possible with vacuuming / whipping and using traditional methods with water and brown soap. Let it dry patiently in the sunshine.
