Warm orange, terracotta, raspberry pink, deep red, turquoise, cobalt blue, olive green, purple and plenty of natural wool tones in between.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eThe colours come and go, the stripes change in width and nothing is perfectly repeated. Yet somehow, it all works beautifully together.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eAnd that thick, soft sheep's wool pile? Quite something!\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eBARAKA takes her name from the Arabic word for \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cem\u003e\u003cspan\u003eblessing\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/em\u003e\u003cspan\u003e. A lovely name for this colourful little treasure.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch3\u003e\u003cspan\u003eA LITTLE ABOUT BOUJAD RUGS\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/h3\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eBoujad rugs originate from the Boujad region in central Morocco, known for its expressive Amazigh weaving traditions.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eTraditionally woven by women, these rugs are loved for their freedom in colour and design. Irregular geometric patterns, unexpected combinations and compositions that rarely worry too much about symmetry.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eBARAKA is a little different from the more familiar diamond-patterned Boujads.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eInstead of large motifs, she's all about colourful horizontal stripes, rich textures and wonderfully spontaneous colour combinations.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eTurn over a corner and you'll discover another lovely detail: the reverse reveals finer coloured lines against the natural woven wool base.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eTraditional Moroccan craftsmanship with an almost contemporary, playful look.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch3\u003e\u003cspan\u003eANOTHER FIND AT THE MARRAKECH CRIÉE\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/h3\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eBARAKA was personally selected during our October 2026 sourcing trip at the Marrakech rug auction, better known as the \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cem\u003e\u003cspan\u003ecriée\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/em\u003e\u003cspan\u003e.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eOne of our favourite places to hunt for unusual rugs, although it's not exactly a peaceful shopping experience.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eCarpets everywhere, rugs being unfolded, prices being called out, people negotiating and carrying things around.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eAnd somewhere in the middle of it all, us, trying to keep track of everything we've spotted.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eNot always our greatest talent!\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eBARAKA was part of a particularly colourful Boujad selection that day.
