Boucherouite Boujad HIPPIE Rugs
boucherouite
Unlike other Moroccan rugs, which are typically made from wool, Boucherouite rugs are made from scraps of whatever material is available, including synthetic fabrics from old clothes or even remnants of other rugs. The name Boucherouite comes from the Arabic, “bu sherwit,” meaning “rag,” or “scrap of used clothing." The word speaks to the unremarkable origins of each piece. What makes these upcycled artworks special, however, is the fantastic array of patterns and colors they can contain.
These Boujad rag rugs are really unique findings because of their unusual material mix. The fibres are more synthetic, longer hairs than most cotton boucherouites. They have a particular nonchalant bohemian vibe about them and match perfectly together.

direct import
During my purchasing trips to Morocco, I always look for beautiful, unique pieces that fit nicely into our concept. I bid along with the local merchants on the criée berbère of the carpet souks in the heart of Marrakech, which means that most of the intermediate channels are skipped!
handmade
Due to their handmade and unique nature - irregularities in shape and colour can be expected, and are what adds to the beauty, character and value of the rugs.
maintenance advice
The boucherouite rugs can be machine washed if necessary.
However, for basic cleaning we recommend vacuuming and leaving the rugs outside to air from time to time. Also possible is using traditional methods with water and brown soap to then let them dry patiently in the sun.
